Maybe I will, Maybe I won't
Well that estate agent still has not put our house in his window or on the website. So I think it is time that we changed him. Another example of someone who obviously doesn't need to work hard. Oh to be so picky.
Hard Turkey
Well the turkey is still frozen and I am a little worried that it won't be ready for tomorrow. It can't be as bad as the time we went away one Christmas and ended up eating soggy pasta. There was no oven in our flat. We had fun though as we were all together. Ahhhhhhhhh.
Christmas lunch may turn into dinner but I don't care. Christmas is a time to relax and not to be stressing about eating on time. Anyway if we get hungry we have enough Christmas cake to keep us going for a few days.
Merry Christmas

Is there really a recession?
People keep on going on about this recession. Funny thing is that when I call out a plumber or some other service person they can't fit you in or just don't bother turning up.
Some professions are just recession-proof it seems and the professional can pick and choose who he works for. Now why can't it be like that for the rest of us?

There's always someone better than you and there's always someone worse off than you
I have decided to go back to my usual optimistic self after hibernating and languishing in self-pity. I suppose we all have to have moments when we are really down. But I met a lady about to have a kidney transplant and she was moaning about her problems. I think I can say I am a lot luckier than her and really should be more happy. Things could be a lot worse.
It may be zero degrees here today in Northern Italy but the sun is shining.

What makes some people bad?
I wanted this to be a happy, fun blog. But I got to wondering after being burgled last night what makes some people not care about hurting others. Why would someone wake up one morning and decide to take what does not belong to them. Leave everything strewn on the floor mud all over the place, our cats and dog petrified, doors wide open and children scared to sleep alone.
I think I am fairly optimistic but experiences like these (it's my first) make me less trusting and maybe more prejudice about the type of persons who I believe may have done it. Then again it could have been anyone really. Rationality will tell me that most people are good but right now I really don't want to know anyone else that I don't know already.
Take care

When I went to catch the train yesterday I was accosted by on obviously unstable lady who shouted 'Hi Randy Crawford!' I don't think that I was the first to be spoken to by her. As she approached the platform everybody moved away.
The night before I dreamt that I missed my train connection because of somebody chasing me. When I got to the station last night for the first part of my return journey the train turned out to be running late! I thought my dream or nightmare was about to come true. However, I just managed to get my connection squeezing through the doors as they were closing.
Now why can't I dream about the lottery numbers and get it right!
Take care

Hello
We have been living here in Northern Italy for over 5 years. I did live here about 16 years ago when I first married my Italian husband but then we moved to England.
It was the day 5 years ago when we made that strange decision to move back here. I always thought of Italy as a great place to visit not to live so I don't know what was going in my mind. We have regretted our decision ever since. So now 5 years later we are trying to sell our home and move on. I hope to tell you about some of the ups and hopefully very few downs we encounter over the next few months. I hope it will be quite fun. Trying to stay optimistic and laughing keeps me going throughout some of the absurdities that I have encountered and will encounter.
So just to be brief today, our estate agent came to view the house and give us the usual spiel 30/10/09. We said we wanted to go with him. The following Saturday he erected the 'For Sale' sign. Now 17/11/09 the house is still not displayed in the office window. Well I am not surprised. I have learnt to take things the Italian way - 'piano piano' slowly slowly.
Until tomorrow,
Stephanie
